Eastern Courier Service - Terms of Service

1. Introduction and Acceptance

Welcome to Eastern Courier Service ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our freight forwarding and package delivery services between the United States and Jamaica. By using our services, you ("Customer," "you," or "your") agree to be bound by these Terms.

2. Service Description

2.1 Mailbox Service

We provide customers with a United States mailing address to receive packages and mail. This address serves as a forwarding point for your shipments to Jamaica.

2.2 Freight Forwarding

Our services include:

• Receiving packages at our US warehouse facility
• Consolidating and preparing shipments for international transport
• Shipping packages from the USA to Jamaica
• Clearing Jamaica customs on behalf of customers
• Handling all required documentation and customs procedures
• Notifying customers when packages are ready for collection

3. Customer Responsibilities

3.1 Package Collection

Customers must pay all fees including but not limited to:

• Jamaica customs duties and taxes
• Eastern Courier Service processing fees
• Handling and storage fees
• Any additional charges incurred during the shipping process

4. Operating Hours and Collection

4.1 Warehouse Hours

Standard Operating Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (excluding public holidays)

4.2 Changes to Operating Hours

Eastern Courier Service reserves the right to change operating hours at any time without prior notice. Customers will be notified of permanent changes through our standard communication channels.

4.3 Holiday Closures

Our facility is closed on all recognized public holidays in Jamaica. No packages will be available for collection during these periods.

5. Package Storage and Unclaimed Items

5.1 Storage Period

Packages will be held for a reasonable period following customer notification. After this period, unclaimed packages may be subject to additional storage fees.

5.3 Auction Proceeds

Any proceeds from the auction of unclaimed packages will first be applied to outstanding fees, storage costs, and auction expenses. All remaining proceeds will be retained by Eastern Courier Service as compensation for storage, handling, and administrative costs.

6. Limitation of Liability

6.1 Operating Hours Limitation

No responsibility is accepted for packages left, sent, or delivered outside of our operating hours. Any packages or correspondence received outside of business hours will be processed during the next business day.

6.2 Service Limitations

Eastern Courier Service is not responsible for:

• Delays caused by customs authorities
• Changes in customs regulations or duties
• Natural disasters or acts of God
• Government actions or civil unrest
• Damage to packages during transport by third-party carriers
• Loss or theft of packages after arrival at our Jamaica facility

7. Prohibited Items

Customers may not ship the following items through our service:

• Illegal substances or contraband
• Hazardous materials or dangerous goods
• Perishable items without prior approval
• Items prohibited by US or Jamaica customs regulations
• Weapons, ammunition, or explosive materials
• Live animals or plants

8. Fees and Payment

8.1 Fee Structure

All fees must be paid before package release. Fee schedules are available upon request and may be updated periodically.

8.2 Customs Duties

Customers are responsible for all customs duties, taxes, and fees imposed by Jamaica customs authorities. These fees are in addition to our service charges.

8.3 Payment Terms

Payment is due upon collection of packages. Accepted payment methods will be communicated to customers at the time of service.

9. Privacy and Data Protection

We are committed to protecting customer privacy and will handle personal information in accordance with applicable data protection laws. Customer information will only be used for service delivery and regulatory compliance purposes.

10. Modifications to Terms

Eastern Courier Service reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting. Continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of modified Terms.

11. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these Terms or our services shall be resolved through binding arbitration in Jamaica, in accordance with Jamaica's arbitration laws.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Jamaica.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
